Tesla Powerwall App. Update
04/2017
Tesla's iOS and Android apps are being updated to allow owners of the company's Powerwall home energy storage device to instantly access information about their home power grid anytime, anywhere on the internet.
The new app allows customers to monitor all Tesla products, including Model S and Model X vehicles, Powerwall, and solar panels. It offers the opportunity to view real-time data on solar energy production, battery power and domestic energy consumption. The app also informs customers about a power line outage, shares information about the current Powerwall status, and Powerwall can be activated to ensure the home's energy use.
For example, Powerwall owners can adjust the amount of power to be stored with the battery equipment at home, when the power outage information is received due to an infrastructure work or possible bad weather conditions.
Updates are scheduled to be posted this week on a schedule.
Introduced last year , Powerwall 2 is a similar giant battery used in Tesla's electric cars. It allows homeowners to store 14 kWh of energy per unit and consume the energy obtained from solar energy during the day, at night or as a backup power source in the event of a power outage. An internal inverter ( an electrical power converter that converts direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) - Wikipedia ) allows the energy obtained from solar panels to be more easily connected to the grid passing through the house.
Tesla's 14 kWh Powerwall costs $ 5,500 , it includes an internal inverter. Up to nine Powerwall systems can be linked together. It can be mounted on the wall or floor, inside or outside the house.
